LEADING YOUR CITY GROUP IN THE GCT APP

City Group leaders can use the GCT app to view their group, create events, take attendance, start the group chat, and identify members who still need to connect their Church Center account. This quick guide also explains automatic chat membership and notification choices.

How to use the GCT App to lead!

View Your Group

  1. Open the More tab.
  2. Tap Groups.
  3. Open the My Groups tab.
  4. Select your City Group.

My Groups is your home base for your roster, events, attendance, and group chat.

Keep Group Details Accurate

If your group's name, description, meeting details, location, leaders, or other information needs to change, ask an admin. Admins manage these details on their side using Planning Center Online.

Create an Event

  1. Open the group's Events option.
  2. Sign in to Church Center with the same email address or phone number connected to your account.
  3. Tap New.
  4. Fill out the event details and save them.

Make the date, time, location, and description clear so members know exactly what to expect.

There is a QR code and a link to send to people.

Take Attendance

  1. Open the group's Events option.
  2. Select the event.
  3. Tap Take Attendance.
  4. Mark who attended and submit it.

Take attendance as soon as practical after the gathering.

Create Your City Group Chat

In your group's Manage area, tap the large Create Group Chat button. Confirm the chat details and create it. You do not need to select each member individually because the City Group roster controls the chat membership.

Help Every Member Get Connected

In the member list, a broken link icon means that person is not connected to the app through their Church Center account. They need to:

  1. Download the GCT app.
  2. Sign in using the same email address or phone number they use in Church Center.
  3. Connect their account.

If they need help, an admin can also connect the account for them. Follow up with anyone showing the broken link so they do not miss group communication.

How City Group Chats Work

City Group chats stay synchronized with the official group roster:

  • Members automatically join the chat when they join the City Group and have a connected GCT account.
  • Members automatically leave the chat when they leave the City Group.
